Digital images of church court records
The purpose of the Scottish Documents website is to allow testing of the online
delivery of digital copies of historical records to authenticated users. The
images are derived from the records of church courts (kirk sessions,
presbyteries, synods and the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland), and
of courts of secession churches which rejoined the Church of Scotland at
various times. The National Archives of Scotland (NAS) administers copyright in
the original records on behalf of the Church of Scotland. The digital images of
the church records are Crown copyright protected unless otherwise stated.
